Shamirah’s Story
Because of you, Shamirah is discovering where she belongs — and what she's capable of.
Like many students in Uganda, Shamirah lives on campus. Boarding school is a common and practical part of education in Uganda — it removes the burden of long commutes and gives students a stable, consistent place to learn and grow.
For Shamirah, that consistency has made all the difference. She doesn't just attend AsOne. She calls it home.
It's where she's found friends, uncovered her gifts, and been believed in by teachers who saw her potential in math and selected her for the debating club — where she's learning to speak without fear.
And when her coach handpicked the best players for the netball team, Shamirah's name was called. She stepped onto the court as a shooter, competed all the way to the district level, and came home with a trophy.
