2025 AsOne Leadership Retreat

Learning, Growth, and Leadership in Action

Throughout the year, cohort members engage in a variety of leadership development opportunities, including:

  • A three-day Leadership Retreat to deepen learning and build peer connections

  • Topical leadership trainings covering building trust, teams, and managing leadership pressure.

  • Cohort-specific discussions to debrief lessons and reflect on personal growth

  • Practical leadership experiences at the community level

Through these activities, participants gain not only knowledge but practical experience, learning to apply leadership skills in real-life scenarios while receiving guidance and mentorship from more experienced leaders.

2025 Leadership Retreat: Serving Ugandans, Building Uganda

At the beginning of September, we hosted the 2025 Leadership Retreat, bringing together US staff, board members, Ugandan board members, and leadership staff from across Uganda, including the emerging leaders cohort. Over three days, participants explored a wide range of leadership topics, attended breakout sessions, and connected informally with peers. This retreat created a rich environment for learning, mentorship, and reflection.

This year’s theme, “Serving Ugandans, Building Uganda,” emphasized the impact of servant leadership and the importance of thinking strategically about community growth. A highlight of the retreat was the final session on “Managing Leadership Anxiety,” where participants discussed the real pressures of leadership and learned strategies from experienced leaders for navigating anxiety and sustaining resilience in their roles.

Investing in the Next Generation of Leaders

Through AsOne’s Emerging Leaders Cohort and our Leadership Retreat, we are intentionally investing in the next generation of leaders, building a strong foundation for growth in our communities and programs. We are committed to Ugandans empowering Ugandans and living out our core value of sacrificial leadership—where the best leaders set aside self-interest to uplift others, using their passion and creativity to restore, give, and bless. By centering leadership on service and empowerment, we ensure that our programs are locally-led, sustainable, Christ-centered, and deeply rooted in the communities they serve.
