Meet Suzan: A Farmer and Leader Changing Her Community
When Suzan Alele started with just 20 chicks, she had a dream—not only to grow her own farm, but to help others do the same. She imagined a future where she could feed her family, earn a sustainable income, and empower fellow farmers in her community to thrive.
Today, that dream is a reality.
After going through AsOne’s agriculture training, Suzan built a successful poultry business in her community of Kaberamaido and became a Village-Based Advisor (VBA), using her experience to train and support other local farmers.
As a VBA, Suzan trains smallholder farmers on better farming practices, helping them improve their harvests, earn more income, and support their families. Her work goes beyond her own household—she’s playing a key role in strengthening her local economy and building up others.
“My dream was to be a big farmer,” Suzan shares. “But also to become someone who can teach people the knowledge of farming. And I’m happy with AsOne because they helped me to achieve my dreams.”
