Sarah Mirembe

Sarah Mirembe has been with AsOne since 2018.

Today, in her first year as a student at the AsOne High School, Sarah is a natural leader for her peers. They come to her for prayer. They see her helping lead chapel each week. She is someone others look up to because of her faith.

But when she reflects back on why it is a story of encountering God and being transformed by Him.

As a kid, in a family of 10 kids, Sarah heard others talk about God but recalls that she didn’t truly understand. Yet she knew she had a deep hunger and need for Him.

Sarah was then given the opportunity by AsOne staff to begin attending our first discipleship programs. It was there she was able to see prayer modeled, others studied scripture with her and prayed with her, and she was given the opportunity to help lead times of praise and worship.

It was in these early days with AsOne that she says her eyes and heart were opened to who God truly was.

It was in those experiences that she began to find her own courage to pray… to offer her hopes to God, to tell Him what she was experiencing, and to ask for Him to work in her life.

She saw God answer her prayers for her siblings to be able to attend school.

She saw God faithful to see her through primary exams so she could reach her dream of becoming a high school student.

She has seen God keep her family and her friends healthy.

Sarah says that through AsOne discipleship programs she has learned how to read scripture so that she can understand how to obey and love God.

At the AsOne High School, Sarah has become a leader because she has been changed by a loving God. Well into the future, Sarah hopes to become a doctor because she wants to be a part of what God is doing in the world to help and heal others.

This is why discipleship matters and why we’re so grateful to the Scholars community for investing in the spiritual growth of the future leaders of Uganda.

Our students have developed a deep love for God, imagination for His Kingdom, and the desire to serve Him all thanks to your generosity!
