Faces of Local Leadership - Joshua’s Story

At AsOne, we believe lasting change happens when local leaders are equipped to solve the challenges facing their own communities. Through your partnership, leaders like Joshua are bringing healing, hope, and opportunity to rural Uganda.

Joshua's journey into healthcare began with a painful experience. As a young man, he watched his grandfather endure poor medical care during a hospital stay. Seeing his grandfather suffer left a lasting impression and inspired him to pursue a different future for others.

"It inspired me to join this profession so that other people would not go through what I saw my grandfather going through."

Today, Joshua serves at AsOne Health Center – Mayuge, caring for patients in his own community. Alongside a team of fellow Ugandan healthcare professionals, he provides compassionate, high-quality care to families who might otherwise go without treatment.

Joshua has witnessed firsthand how access to healthcare is transforming lives. Before the health center opened, many people in the community had few options when illness struck. Some relied on self-treatment or traditional remedies, while others simply went without care altogether. Today, families have access to trained medical professionals and life-saving treatments in their own community.

"Since this facility came into the community, people's mindsets have changed. Now they seek medical attention rather than treating themselves."

What once felt out of reach is now available close to home. Mothers can deliver safely, children can receive treatment when they are sick, and families can access care before small health concerns become serious conditions.

This is the power of local leadership. Because of your support, leaders like Joshua are not only caring for patients today—they are helping build stronger health systems and healthier communities for generations to come.

Thank you for investing in sustainable healthcare solutions that empower Ugandans to serve, lead, and transform their own communities.
