Quarterly Update - Q2, 2026 Recap
Letter from the Managing Director
Red dirt. It’s a distinctive physical characteristic of the Ugandan landscape, and one that is strikingly beautiful to many of us who haven’t spent our entire lives surrounded by it. In the daily updates we receive from our team across Uganda, this unmistakable red soil shows up in each picture. It’s there as students line up to enroll in school, as health outreaches take place in remote villages, as buildings are being constructed and new foundations are being laid.
For AsOne, this red dirt serves as a constant reminder of our growth. Just as plants and trees need the soil to grow and produce fruit, the work of AsOne requires good soil in order to flourish. In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus talks about the seeds that “fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold” (Mark 4:8).
As I reflect on this past quarter, I'm struck by how much my understanding of the work has expanded. Partnering closely with our colleagues in Uganda has deepened my appreciation for what it means to serve rural communities - and for the patient effort of planting seeds in good soil.
We believe that as we continue to till the soil alongside faithful partners like you, God will continue to give the growth. This past quarter, that growth has been evident in encouraging ways. Here’s a look at what God has been doing through your partnership.

What and How We’re Learning
Employee Engagement Survey
At AsOne, we believe the people closest to the challenges are also closest to the solutions. That's why local leadership is at the heart of everything we do. Beyond serving program participants, a core part of our model is equipping Ugandan leaders to lead, strengthen, and shape the future of their own communities. We strive to create a workplace where our team members can grow in skill, leadership, and influence as they serve others.
Recently, we asked our 470+ Ugandan staff to share their experience through our annual Employee Engagement Survey. With nearly 95% of our team participating, the results provide meaningful insight into the culture we're building together—and the opportunities ahead. Here are a few highlights:
1) Our mission continues to unite our team. Vision & Mission Alignment was the highest-rated area, earning 4.39 out of 5.00, with 90% of staff rating it a 4 or 5. Across our communities, our team remains deeply connected to our shared mission of making disciples of Jesus and creating sustainable solutions that address poverty in rural, underserved communities.
2) Our culture reflects the value of local ownership. Inclusion & Belonging received a 4.24 score, with staff affirming that AsOne is a place where people from different backgrounds are respected, valued, and empowered to lead.
3) Strong leaders are building strong teams. Manager Effectiveness scored 4.05, with staff sharing that they receive clear expectations, guidance, and support from their supervisors.
4) Health and administration teams continue to set the pace. Both departments scored above 4.10, demonstrating excellence and helping establish a strong culture across the organization.
5) Leadership development is creating lasting impact. Staff frequently highlighted the Emerging Leaders Program in their written responses and expressed enthusiasm it’s expansion—an encouraging affirmation as we continue investing in the next generation of Ugandan leaders.
This feedback will help shape how we continue to invest in our people, strengthen our culture, and equip our team to serve communities across rural Uganda for years to come.
Updates
1) Farmer Training Program
In June, Season 2 of our Farmer Training Program through FIPS Africa began across all eight AsOne communities. This four-month program provides farmers with training in seed selection, bed preparation, nursery management, pest and disease control, and crop management. This season, 200 Village-Based Advisors (VBAs) are leading the training and support of approximately 2,500 farmers as they plant vegetables including tomatoes, eggplant, green peppers, and collard greens.
Thirty new VBAs joined the program this year in Luuka, Serere, and Pallisa. Each received a bicycle, sprayer pump, logbook, and 25 chickens to help start a poultry business while serving farmers in their communities. In these three communities, more than 3,000 registered farmers also received maize seed to support increased food production and household income.
2) Healthcare Beyond Our Clinic Walls
For many families in rural Uganda, accessing healthcare isn't as simple as visiting the nearest clinic. Long travel distances, transportation costs, and limited local services often prevent people from receiving care until a condition becomes urgent. That's why AsOne is committed to bringing healthcare closer to the communities we serve.
Each month, our health teams extend care beyond our clinic walls through mobile outreach clinics, dental camps, and monthly Discount Days. Across our eight communities, we host three to four week-long dental camps every month in partnership with Hope Smiles, typically serving 250+ patients per outreach. We also partner with local health facilities and Village Health Teams to bring services such as laboratory testing, ultrasound scans, health education, and referrals directly into underserved villages, while offering affordable care that encourages families to seek treatment earlier.
Because of you, healthcare is reaching families who might otherwise go without it. By leveraging AsOne's presence within each community, we're expanding access to life-changing care, addressing barriers before they become crises, and strengthening a locally-led, sustainable healthcare system that will serve families for generations.
3) Meet Sharon Kamau-Ledwaba, Senior Programs Lead
We are excited to welcome Sharon Kamau-Ledwaba as the new Senior Programs Lead for AsOne Ministries. Born and raised in Kenya, Sharon has spent much of her adult life living in Canada and South Africa. She graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Master of Philosophy degree in Social Justice and Development and brings nearly 15 years of experience working across the nonprofit, social impact, and entrepreneurship sectors.
Most recently, Sharon served as Director of Impact at Many Hopes, where she led impact strategy and supported locally led partner organizations across Africa and Latin America. Her work has focused on strengthening partnerships, program systems, learning, accountability, and organizational capacity so that frontline organizations can grow with clarity and sustainability.
Sharon is excited to join AsOne because of its commitment to local ownership, holistic community transformation, and the redemptive role that work, enterprise, and local leadership can play in restoring communities. She is passionate about joining God in the renewal of all things and believes that where there is brokenness, we are invited to serve as His hands and feet. She lives in Johannesburg, South Africa with her husband, Thami, and their three children. Outside of work, Sharon enjoys traveling, creating with her hands, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Expansion Updates
1) Looking Ahead: Our 10th Community
AsOne is preparing to expand into its 10th community with the future launch of Ngora. Land has been secured for both a Nursery & Primary School and Health Center, and early site work—including surveying, fencing, and water drilling—is underway. Architectural plans are being finalized, with construction expected to start this quarter.
When the school and health center open in January 2028, they will bring quality, Christ-centered education, accessible healthcare, and new economic opportunities to families in the surrounding communities. Like every AsOne location, Ngora is being developed with long-term sustainability in mind—equipping local leaders and creating the foundation for a community that can thrive for generations.
2) 9th Community: Namutumba Update
Construction continues to move forward in Namutumba as we prepare to open AsOne's ninth community in January 2027.
The Nursery & Primary School is making great progress, with five of the six planned buildings currently under construction. About half have reached the roofing stage, and the project remains on track for completion this December.
Work on the Health Clinic has also continued despite unexpected soil challenges that required additional site preparation. To keep the project moving forward, additional construction staff have been deployed, and we expect to begin plastering the walls by mid-July.
We're also excited to share that Amos Abwenga has been promoted to Community Manager for Namutumba. As an internal leader, Amos now oversees all construction activities across the community—coordinating contractors, managing timelines and budgets, and ensuring each project is completed with excellence.

3) Serere and Luuka High Schools
Construction continues to move steadily at both the Serere and Luuka High Schools as these campuses take shape. All planned structures are currently under construction, with most buildings having reached the roofing stage.
The two-story classroom blocks continue to make significant progress, with terrazzo flooring scheduled to begin before the end of July. As construction advances, these schools move one step closer to welcoming students into environments designed to provide quality, Christ-centered education.

Looking Ahead to Q3, 2026
As we enter the third quarter of 2026, we are committed to entering the year strong in alignment with our strategic plan. Focuses for this quarter include:
1) Investing in the Next Generation of Ugandan Leaders
At AsOne, we believe lasting impact depends on strong local leadership. As our organization continues to grow across rural Uganda, developing strong leaders is essential to ensuring every community can thrive for the long term. That's why we created AsOne Labs, our leadership development initiative for current and emerging leaders across the organization.
This past quarter, AsOne Labs continued to equip leaders through monthly leadership development sessions focused on delegation, time management and prioritization, and practicing radical candor by caring personally while challenging directly. Through these practical trainings, along with weekly mentorship, leaders have shared that they are becoming more effective, leading healthier teams, and better serving the communities entrusted to them.
This September, leaders from our schools, health centers, agriculture programs, and community teams will gather for the second AsOne Labs Leadership Retreat of 2026. Through teaching, panel discussions, and small-group conversations, they'll continue developing skills in leadership, conflict resolution, team development, and Christ-centered character. The retreat will conclude with the commissioning of our emerging leaders as they return to serve and lead in their communities.
2) Preparing Students for National Examinations
As students enter Term III, our Primary 7 (P7), Senior 4 (S4), and Senior 6 (S6) classes are preparing for Uganda's national examinations. These exams are significant milestones that determine whether students can advance to the next level of education and often shape future academic and career opportunities. Last year, 100% of AsOne students achieved a Quality Pass (Division 1 or 2), compared to just 45% across the district.
Strong results not only open doors for individual students—they also reflect the quality of education being provided across AsOne schools. We invite you to join us in praying for our students, teachers, and school leaders as they prepare for this important season and continue working toward excellence both inside and outside the classroom.
ICYMI: The Story Video Series
In case you missed it, this summer we're taking you behind the scenes of AsOne's work through a mini-series called The Story. In Season 4 of The Story, travel across rural Uganda to meet the people leading transformation from within their own communities. Through three episodes focused on education, agriculture, and healthcare, discover how locally led, sustainable solutions are creating lasting change—and see the impact your partnership is making possible.
Season 4, Episode 1 is available now, with new episodes releasing each month throughout the summer. Don't miss it!
Fall Events
This fall, we're inviting you to join us for a series of intimate AsOne gatherings in South Dakota (October 19–22) and Denver (October 26–29), hosted in homes and community spaces.
Together, we'll reflect on what God has done through AsOne over the last decade, share stories of impact from Uganda, and explore the opportunities, challenges, and vision shaping our next chapter. We hope you'll join us for an evening of meaningful conversation, connection, and a glimpse into where we believe God is leading AsOne in the years ahead.
