Meet Moses // AsOne Health Center

Moses’ Story

For months, Moses went from one clinic to another, searching for answers. Each visit left him with more questions and no clear path forward.

Then, something changed.

When the AsOne Health Center – Serere opened in his community, Moses finally received a diagnosis—and with it, the care he had been longing for. Compassionate providers listened. Treatment began. Healing followed.

Access to local, quality care changed everything and he is hopeful for future health services for his community.

“I believe our community will be helped by AsOne because the services here are actually targeting the poor,” Moses shared.

His story is a glimpse into what’s possible when quality healthcare becomes accessible in rural Uganda.

Challenges Facing Uganda Healthcare

Across the country, healthcare is under immense strain due to poverty, rapid population growth, and a critical shortage of skilled medical personnel and resources. Uganda’s disease burden is driven largely by preventable, communicable illnesses—like malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, respiratory infections, and diarrheal diseases—which account for more than half of the country’s morbidity and mortality.

This already fragile healthcare system has come under increased pressure due to recent changes in international funding. In early 2025, USAID suspended all new funding obligations to Uganda across sectors like health, education, agriculture, and governance. The freeze halted over 80% of USAID programs, has laid off 29,000 health workers in Uganda, and led to the closure of clinics providing essential services.

Expansion to Pallisa

This funding gap is creating a critical opportunity for private healthcare providers, like AsOne, to establish community-based health centers to meet growing needs. In districts like Pallisa, public health services are overwhelmed. Families often walk long distances, pay out of pocket, and wait hours for care. This lack of access leaves entire communities vulnerable to preventable illnesses and contributes to high maternal mortality rates.

But there is hope.

We believe it is an opportunity from the Lord to establish a sustainable, accessible health center in Pallisa—one that offers healing, dignity, and lasting impact to families who need it most. Just as we’ve seen in Serere, local healthcare can change lives and transform communities.
